Poster problems

This is an attempt to do something new to the posters... 

It's clearly not new or good. 

I'm concerned that as the posters have changed from being hand made, cut and paste type things to things made with photoshop, they have become more predictable. While it's good to have a recognisable continuity between the posters I also want to keep them fresh. When I made the first few they looked odd and now they look exactly like you'd expect. I intend to do something about that. I don't think this is it though...

Books from posters

Here are some images of the unbound books I've put together from the 'failed' posters that Dan, Debi, Chris and I printed. I have yet to write any kind of forward or think of a title. I also need to explore the best way to bind and crop the books, but hopefully this will all happen soonish. I think they'll be good things.

Poster plan

Thought I'd put this pic up again because the colours are great. Also because I'm planning to do something with the misprinted posters that we produced while attempting to learn how to screen print. It seemed a shame that our activities didn't bear fruit, in that none of the posters we printed were good enough to use. And, while I'm confident that we will have them printed retrospectively for the ESW archive, I wanted to use the posters we did print and celebrate their fuck ups. So, I'm planning on chopping them all down to A5, I think, the binding them into a small number of books. *cough-dieterrothripoff-cough* All this still depends on the hows and wheres, and if I have to teach myself book binding whether or not that fails too, but I'd feel better about producing something to show for Dan, Debi & Chris's time. So end-eth the ramble. 

Beautification, part 1

Here are a few images from a small show that took place in Manchester Central, (G-Mex as was), in the middle of a large health a beauty convention. The show was organised by Matthew Pendergast and Mike Chavez-Dawson. 

It was good to see the subtle differences in how the faces printed at a different printers. 

It's also good to be invited to be part of things

But no joy. We need a bigger screen... This poster will be right. It won't be on time but it will be right! Big thank you to Chris for trying to fix our mess.

Not quite poster

Despite the best efforts of Dan, Debi and myself we failed to make this screen print work. This is largely down to us knowing nothing of the task at hand. It was unanimously decided that the image was just too big for the screen and we didn't have enough space to get a clean image. We had a good go though. We're still hopeful that they might be ready by friday but the most important thing is that they're as good as the can be, they're the first posters in the new archive, they need to be right. Pretty pleased with the colour though...
